Never let anybody in your home if you don’t know them. Always ask for identification, close your door and ring their office yourself. Ensure your back door is locked when you answer a call to the front door.
Install a Digital Door Viewer. On a push of a button, this allows you to see who is outside your door on a live screen and will automatically take 3 photos of the caller.
Always keep a torch near to hand in case of a power cut

Install an Intruder Alarm. Always make sure you put it on in the evenings, and when you leave your home even for a short while. Never give your alarm code to anyone outside your family.
